This naming depends on the name of one of the leaders of the struggle during the war of Prince Diponegoro and his grave is inside the park area. Kyai Langgeng was a cleric at the time and was an advisor to Prince Diponegoro against the Dutch colonialism in the territory of Java especially in Magelang.

Kyai Langgeng Park has now transformed not just a more extensive recreational park into a natural tourist site with various facilities adequate for education.
